Philippine-born Carl Michelangelo Ramirez, 15, from Glenmore Park High School, gained the highest score nationally in the inaugural Australian History Competition, obtaining equal first with two other students from NSW. Organised and produced by the History Teachers Association of Australia and The Giant Classroom.This inaugural competition was participated in by 6718 Year 10 students from 141 schools Australia-wide. It was held last June 1st. Only 5% of participants were awarded a certificate of High Distinction, including Carl.
The competition challenged the students’ knowledge, skills and understandings based broadly on the Year 10 Australian History Curriculum.
